Julian Jaynes

Julian Jaynes was an American psychologist best known for his 1976 book *The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind*, which proposed that human consciousness developed relatively recently through language and culture. He taught psychology at Princeton University for many years and also worked at Yale; his ideas on the “bicameral mind” made him a controversial but influential thinker.
