Jule Styne

Jule Styne was an English-American composer renowned as one of the architects of the American musical theater, best known for Broadway scores including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, Gypsy, and Funny Girl. Born Julius Kerwin Stein in London's East End to Ukrainian Jewish parents, his family immigrated to the United States in 1912. He wrote or co-wrote over 1,500 songs and collaborated with lyricists like Sammy Cahn on hits from the 1940s onward.
