Judy Schachner
Judith Byron 'Judy' Schachner, born August 20, 1951, in Waltham, Massachusetts, is an American children's author and illustrator best known for the New York Times bestselling Skippyjon Jones series, inspired by her Siamese cat. Raised in a working-class Irish Catholic family in New England, she graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in illustration in 1973, worked in greeting cards, and began creating children's books in 1992, earning awards like the first E.B. White Read Aloud Award.
