Joy Hakim
Joy Hakim is an American author born on January 16, 1931, in Forest Hills, New York, best known for her ten-volume history series *A History of US* published by Oxford University Press starting in 1993, and *The Story of Science*, three volumes co-published by Smithsonian Books and the National Science Teachers Association.[1][2][4] A former teacher and journalist who worked for newspapers like The Virginian-Pilot and McGraw-Hill's World News, she wrote engaging history and science books for young readers after finding school textbooks dull.[2][3][4] At age 93 in recent years, she continues producing works like a new biology series.[5]
