Joseph Rykwert
Joseph Rykwert (1926–2024) was a renowned architectural historian, critic, and theorist who profoundly influenced generations of architects through his writings on cities, urban form, and architectural theory.[1][5] Born in Warsaw, Poland, he emigrated to England in 1939 and later became Paul Philippe Cret Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, where he succeeded Louis Kahn.[6] He received the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal in 2014 and authored influential works including *The Idea of a Town* (1963), *On Adam's House in Paradise* (1972), and *The Seduction of Place* (2000).[1]
