Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and moved to Delaware as a child, graduating from the University of Delaware and Syracuse Law School.[1][2] Elected to the U.S. Senate from Delaware at age 29 in 1972, he served 36 years, becoming a key figure on the Judiciary Committee and authoring the Violence Against Women Act, before serving as Vice President under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017 and as the 46th President of the United States from 2021.[2][6] His career included overcoming personal tragedies, such as the 1972 car accident that killed his first wife and daughter, and he married Jill Jacobs in 1977.[1][4]
