Joseph C. Touchstone

Joseph Cary Touchstone was born in Soochow, China, in 1921, where his father served as bursar and Professor of English at Soochow University. He became a renowned pioneer in biochemical chromatography, serving as professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he studied amniotic fluid to assess fetal lung viability in premature births. He passed away on July 26, 2009, in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, survived by his wife Phyllis and three sons.
