Joseph A. Bailey II, MD FACS
Joseph A. Bailey II, MD, FACS (born 1935) was an orthopedic surgeon, author, and philanthropist who attended Morehouse College, Meharry Medical School, and Johns Hopkins University, later becoming chief of Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in 1972. He authored medical textbooks such as Disproportionate Short Stature, Diagnosis and Management and The Concise Dictionary of Medical-Legal Terms, alongside numerous works on Ancient African brilliance and solutions to racism's impacts on Black Americans. Retiring early, he founded the Joseph A. Bailey II, MD Foundation to support Black youth through reading programs, career fairs, and community initiatives in San Bernardino.
