Jose Szapocznik

José Szapocznik is a clinical psychologist of Polish-Cuban ancestry, born in Havana, Cuba, and a leading family therapist specializing in Hispanic families, known for developing One-Person Family Therapy and Brief Strategic Family Therapy.[1][5] He is Professor of Public Health Sciences, Architecture, Psychology, and Educational & Psychological Studies at the University of Miami, Director of the Center for Family Studies, and Chair Emeritus of the Department of Public Health Sciences, with over 300 scholarly publications and extensive NIH funding.[2][3] His research focuses on the role of context in health, particularly for underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities.[3]
