Jorge Argueta

Jorge Argueta is a celebrated Salvadoran poet and author known for his bilingual children's books that capture stories from his homeland and the immigrant experience in the U.S.[1][4] Born in El Salvador, he immigrated to San Francisco in 1980 and has received numerous awards, including the Américas Book Award for *A Movie in My Pillow / Una película en mi almohada*.[1][3] He serves as San Mateo County’s 2023-2024 Poet Laureate, the first of Hispanic descent, and directs poetry workshops while organizing children's poetry festivals.[2][1]
