Jonathan Conlin
Jonathan Conlin is a historian of modern Britain, specializing in cultural history, museums, and institutions from 1700 to the present, and Professor of Modern History at the University of Southampton. Born in New York to British expats, he moved to the UK at age fourteen, studied History and Modern Languages at Oxford, and earned his doctorate at the Courtauld Institute and Cambridge. His notable works include award-winning biographies of Calouste Gulbenkian and Adam Smith, as well as histories of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and London's National Gallery.
