Jon L. Dunn

Jon L. Dunn is a leading expert on the field identification and distribution of North American birds, having served as chief consultant for all five editions of the National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America and as a birding tour leader for over 30 years.[2][6] He began birding at age eight in 1962 after spotting a Hooded Oriole in Los Angeles, joined the Western Field Ornithologists at age 15 in 1969, and has contributed extensively to organizations like the American Birding Association.[1][3][8] A prolific writer and photographer, he has authored books such as The Glitter in the Green and field guides on British mammals and sea mammals, and currently resides in Bishop, California, with strong ties to the Shetland Isles.[4][5][7]
