Johnny Hunt

Johnny M. Hunt is an American Christian leader, pastor, and author who served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2008 to 2010. Rising from a childhood of poverty and personal struggles including alcoholism and gambling, he became a prominent evangelical figure and founded First Baptist Church Woodstock in Georgia, where he served as senior pastor for 33 years. He is known for pioneering sermon distribution through cassette recordings and authoring multiple books, though his reputation was significantly impacted by a 2022 report documenting a credible accusation of sexual assault.
