John W. Turner

John G. Turner is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at George Mason University, specializing in American religion, Mormonism, and the history of colonial New England. He earned a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and previously taught at the University of South Alabama. Turner is the author of biographies including those of Brigham Young, The Mormon Jesus, and the forthcoming Joseph Smith: The Rise and Fall of an American Prophet, set for publication by Yale University Press in summer 2025.
