John Mighton

John Mighton is a Canadian playwright, mathematician, author, and educator born in Hamilton, Ontario, who founded JUMP Math in 1998-2001 to revolutionize math teaching for all students, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. His acclaimed plays, including Possible Worlds, Half Life, and A Short History of Night, have won two Governor General’s Awards, and he holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Toronto while serving as a Fellow of the Fields Institute. He is the author of bestselling books like The Myth of Ability and The End of Ignorance, advocating that mathematical talent exists in every child.
