John McLeod Campbell

John McLeod Campbell (1800–1872) was a Scottish minister and Reformed theologian known for his teachings on universal atonement, which led to his deposition by the Church of Scotland in 1831.[1][2] He studied at the University of Glasgow and Edinburgh, excelled in languages, and later pastored an independent chapel in Glasgow while authoring influential works like *The Nature of the Atonement* (1856).[1][2] His theology emphasized the Atonement in light of the Incarnation and Christ's perfect sonship.[2][6]
