John Edgcumbe Staley

John Edgcumbe Staley, commonly known as Edgcumbe Staley, was a British priest and author born on July 7, 1845, in Southport, Lancashire. He wrote several historical works, including Famous Women of Florence, The Tragedies of the Medici, and The Dogaressas of Venice. He died in 1903.
