John E. Sarno

John E. Sarno was an American physician and professor of rehabilitation medicine at New York University School of Medicine, best known for his writings on psychosomatic causes of chronic back pain and for developing the concept of Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS). His books on mind-body medicine became influential and controversial in discussions of chronic pain treatment.
