John Drury
John Philip Drury is an American poet and author of poetry collections including The Disappearing Town (2000), Burning the Aspern Papers (2003), The Refugee Camp (2011), Sea Level Rising (2015), and The Teller’s Cage (2024), as well as Creating Poetry (1991) and The Poetry Dictionary (1995).[1][4] Born in Cambridge, Maryland, and raised in Bethesda, he earned degrees from Stony Brook University, Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, then taught English at the University of Cincinnati for 37 years before becoming emeritus professor.[2][4] His honors include a Pushcart Prize, Ingram Merrill Foundation fellowship, two Ohio Arts Council grants, and the Bernard F. Conners Prize from The Paris Review.[1][4]
