John Conyngham

John Conyngham (1954–) is a South African author and journalist born in Durban. He studied English and Classical Civilization at the University of Natal and Anglo-Irish literature at Trinity College, Dublin. During his 31-year career as a journalist at The Witness newspaper in Pietermaritzburg, where he served as editor from 1994 to 2010, he wrote three novels exploring themes of dispossession and South African history.
