John Ceiriog Hughes ,

John Ceiriog Hughes (1832–1887) was a Welsh poet and collector of Welsh folk tunes, often called the Robert Burns of Wales. Born at Penybryn Farm in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, Denbighshire, he worked as a grocer's helper, clerk, and railway official before gaining fame through poetry prizes in the 1850s and publishing volumes like Oriau’r Hwyr (1860). He married Annie Catherine Roberts in 1861, had children, and died in Caersws, Montgomeryshire.
