John Baines

John Robert Baines is a British Egyptologist and academic, best known for his long career as Professor of Egyptology at the University of Oxford from 1976 to 2013. His research focuses on Ancient Egyptian art, religion, literature, biography, and the social role of writing, and he remains affiliated with Oxford as a research associate.
