John Bagnell Bury

John Bagnell Bury (1861–1927) was an Anglo-Irish historian, classical scholar, and philologist renowned for his works on ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine history. Educated at Foyle College and Trinity College Dublin, he held professorships in modern history and Greek at Dublin before becoming Regius Professor of Modern History at Cambridge University from 1902 until his death.
