Joe Sacco
Joe Sacco is a Maltese-American cartoonist and journalist born on October 2, 1960, in Kirkop, Malta, credited with pioneering comics journalism through rigorous investigative reporting in graphic form.[1][2] He earned a journalism degree from the University of Oregon in 1981 and gained acclaim for works like Palestine (2001), which documented Palestinian life during the intifada and won the American Book Award in 1996.[1][2][5] His reporting from conflict zones including Gaza, the West Bank, and Bosnia inserts himself into narratives, blending autobiography, journalism, and documentary realism.[2][3][6]
