Joe Mathews

Joe Mathews is a journalist and California editor at Zócalo Public Square who covers California politics, democracy, and policy. He is the author of The People's Machine: Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Rise of Blockbuster Democracy (2006) and co-author of California Crackup: How Reform Broke the Golden State and How We Can Fix It (2010). Previously, he worked as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, and Baltimore Sun, and currently serves as a professor of practice at Arizona State University's School of Politics and Global Studies.
