Joan Hess
Joan Hess (1949–2017) was an American mystery writer born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, best known for her humorous series featuring amateur sleuths Claire Malloy and Arly Hanks (also called the Maggody Mysteries). She began her writing career in the 1980s after unsuccessful romance novels, authored dozens of novels and short stories, and served as president of the American Crime Writers League while being a member of Sisters in Crime.[1][2][3]
