Jessye Norman
Jessye Norman was a renowned American operatic soprano celebrated for her powerful voice and dynamic performances across opera, recitals, and concerts, performing roles like Wagner's Sieglinde and Kundry.[1][2] Born in Augusta, Georgia, she won scholarships to Howard University and the University of Michigan, launching her career with a debut in Germany in 1969.[3][4] A five-time Grammy winner and humanitarian, she founded the Jessye Norman School of the Arts and received numerous honors before her death in 2019.[4][6]
