Jesse Stuart

Jesse Stuart was an American writer, educator, and poet laureate of Kentucky known for his prolific output of poetry, short stories, novels, and autobiographical works set in rural Appalachia. His writing often drew on his upbringing in eastern Kentucky and explored themes of land, community, and the challenges of rural life.
