Jerry M. Wiener

Jerry M. Wiener, M.D. was a psychiatrist and academic leader who served as chairman of psychiatry at George Washington University School of Medicine and later became the 123rd president of the American Psychiatric Association (1994–1995). He was widely recognized for his advocacy on behalf of children and adolescents, including work on psychiatric education, mental health access, childhood depression, and the relationship between mental illness and violence. He also served as editor-in-chief of The Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
