Jeremy Bentham
Jeremy Bentham was an English philosopher, economist, and legal theorist who founded modern utilitarianism, an ethical theory asserting that actions are morally right if they promote the greatest happiness for the greatest number. He was a political radical whose ideas influenced legal reform, welfarism, and early advocacy for animal rights, individual freedom, and the abolition of slavery and the death penalty.
