Jere Van Dyk

Jere Van Dyk (born December 14, 1945) is an American journalist and author renowned for his reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan since the 1970s, including living with the Mujahideen during the Soviet invasion and working for The New York Times, CBS News, and National Geographic. In 2008, he was captured and held for 45 days by the Taliban in Pakistan's Tribal Areas, an experience detailed in his memoir Captive (2010). He has authored books on conflict zones, received a Foreign Press Award in 2022, and continues as a consultant on regional affairs.[1][2][3]
