Jeffrey Sconce

Jeffrey Sconce is a Professor in the Screen Cultures program at Northwestern University and a cultural historian specializing in media and film studies. His research concentrates on the occult, supernatural, and psychotic accounts of electronic media technologies, and he coined the term 'paracinema' in 1995. He is a Guggenheim Fellow (2020-2021) and has authored influential works including 'Haunted Media: Electronic Presence from Telegraphy to Television' (2000) and 'The Technical Delusion: Electronics, Power, Insanity' (2019).
