Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith is an American cartoonist best known for creating the self-published comic book series Bone, a comedy/adventure about three lost cousins from Boneville that has been translated into over 30 languages and named one of Time Magazine's Ten Best Graphic Novels of All Time. Born and raised in the American Midwest, he learned cartooning from comic strips, books, and TV animation, drew for Ohio State's student newspaper, co-founded Character Builders animation studio in 1986, and launched Cartoon Books in 1991 to publish Bone. His acclaimed works, including RASL, Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil, and Tuki, have earned numerous Eisner and Harvey Awards, with a 2026 nomination for the Eisner Hall of Fame.
