Jean-Luc Godard

Born in Paris in 1930, he began as a film critic for Cahiers du cinéma before directing his debut feature Breathless (À bout de souffle) in 1960, revolutionizing filmmaking with innovative techniques like jump cuts. His diverse oeuvre explored socio-political themes, existentialism, and film history until his death in 2022.
