Jean Giono

Jean Giono (1895–1970) was a French novelist and essayist from Provence whose work is celebrated for its vivid depictions of rural life, nature, and the human relationship to the land. A veteran of World War I, he developed strong pacifist convictions that shaped both his public life and much of his writing, including works such as "Colline" and "The Horseman on the Roof."
