Jean De Brunhoff

Jean de Brunhoff was a French writer and illustrator best known for creating the Babar series of children's books, which began as bedtime stories his wife Cécile told their sons. He is credited as the father of the modern picture book and completed seven Babar titles between 1931 and 1937 before dying of tuberculosis at age 37.
