Jay Hawkins

Jalacy J. 'Screamin' Jay' Hawkins (1929–2000) was an American singer-songwriter, musician, actor, and film producer famed for his powerful, shouting vocal delivery and wildly theatrical performances. He is best known for writing and originally performing 'I Put a Spell on You' (1956), which became a rock and roll standard, and for pioneering shock rock through his use of macabre props and outlandish stage personas.
