Japan Travel Bureau

The Japan Travel Bureau (JTB), founded in 1912 as Japan Tourist Bureau, was a government-private sector collaboration aimed at promoting inbound tourism and providing accurate information about Japanese culture to foreign visitors.[1][2][4] It published numerous travel guides and books, including the Tourist Library Series starting in 1934 and the JTB's Illustrated Book Series, with works spanning from 1934 to 2005.[2][3][5][7] In 1963, its sales division separated to form JTB Corp., while the research-focused Japan Travel Bureau Foundation continued.[4]
