Janet Catherine Berlo

Janet Catherine Berlo is an American art historian and educator specializing in Native American art and visual culture. She earned her PhD in Art History from Yale University in 1980 and taught for 23 years at the University of Rochester, where she served as the Susan B. Anthony Professor of Gender Studies and Professor of Art History before retiring as Professor Emerita.[1][3][5] She has authored, co-authored, and edited numerous books, including *Native North American Art* and *The Early Years of Native American Art History*, and is a founding member of the International Quilt Study Center.[3][4]
