Jane Hirshfield
Jane Hirshfield is an acclaimed American poet, essayist, and translator born in New York City on February 24, 1953. She graduated from Princeton University in its first class to include women and studied at the San Francisco Zen Center, where she received lay ordination in Soto Zen in 1979. Recognized as 'one of American poetry's central spokespersons for the biosphere' and 'among the modern masters,' she has authored ten collections of poetry and two essay collections, with numerous awards including the California Book Award and recognition from the Academy of American Poets.
