Jan Hendrik Timman was a Dutch chess grandmaster and one of the world’s leading players from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. He won the Dutch Chess Championship nine times, reached multiple World Championship Candidates cycles, and was also a respected chess author and editor.[1][6][8]
