Jan Berenstain
Janice Marian Grant Berenstain (1923-2012) was an American writer and illustrator, best known for co-creating the Berenstain Bears children's book series with her husband Stan Berenstain. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she met Stan at art school in 1941, married him in 1946 after World War II, and together they produced gag cartoons, humor books, and over 200 Berenstain Bears titles starting with The Big Honey Hunt in 1962. After Stan's death in 2005, Jan continued the series with their son Mike until her own passing in 2012.[1][2][4]
