Jamie Gilson

Jamie Marie Gilson (born Chisam) was an American author of 21 children's books, born on July 4, 1933, in Beardstown, Illinois, to a flour miller father and teacher mother.[1][2][4] She worked in radio, television, and film, including at WFMT, Encyclopaedia Britannica, and as a Chicago Magazine columnist, before focusing on writing novels starting in 1978.[2][3][4] She married lawyer Jerome Gilson in 1955, had three children, and received awards like the Society of Midland Authors Award for children's fiction; she died on February 11, 2020.[1][2][3]
