James Runcie
James Runcie is a British author, playwright, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and literary curator best known for his Grantchester Mysteries series of detective novels featuring clerical detective Sidney Chambers, which inspired an international television series.[1][2] Born in Cambridge as the son of former Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie, he has served as Artistic Director of the Bath Literature Festival, Head of Literature at the Southbank Centre, and Commissioning Editor for Arts on BBC Radio 4, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.[1][3] He lives between London and Scotland with his wife, journalist Lucinda Bredin, whom he married in 2025.[1]
