James P Comer

Dr. James P. Comer (born September 25, 1934) is an American child psychiatrist, educator, and author best known for founding the Comer School Development Program in 1968 at Yale University, a pioneering school reform model emphasizing collaboration, child development, and community involvement to boost academic success in underprivileged communities. A prolific writer, he has authored ten books including *School Power* (1980), *Maggie's American Dream* (1988), and *Leave No Child Behind* (2004), alongside hundreds of articles on child health, development, and race relations. He has served as the Maurice Falk Professor of Child Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine since 1976 and is a co-founder of Black Psychiatrists of America.
