James McQueen
James McQueen (1934-1998) was an Australian author born in Tasmania, where he spent his youth fishing, farming, driving trucks, and later worked as a fruit-picker, ship's cook, and weatherman before studying art and accountancy. At age 40, he returned to north-east Tasmania to grow orchids and write full-time from 1977, producing seven novels, six volumes of short stories, children's books, and non-fiction, with about 170 stories published worldwide and over 50 awards won.[1][2]
