James Fleming

James Roland Fleming (1944–2024) was an English author, editor of *The Book Collector* from 2018 to 2024, and nephew of spy novelist Ian Fleming. Born in London, he studied history at Oxford University, worked as an accountant, farmer, forester, bookseller, and publisher, and wrote historical novels including *The Temple of Optimism* and thrillers featuring the character Charlie Doig. He lived in Scotland and was known for his expertise on Ian Fleming's works.
