James F. English

James F. English is the John Welsh Centennial Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in modern and contemporary British fiction and the economics of cultural prestige. He is the founding faculty director of the Price Lab for Digital Humanities and authored the award-winning book The Economy of Prestige: Prizes, Awards, and the Circulation of Cultural Value[1][6]. He previously served as Chair of the Department of English and directed the Penn Humanities Forum from 2011 to 2018[1][3].
