James Elkins

James Elkins is an American art historian and art critic based in Chicago, where he has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 1989. His writing focuses on the history and theory of images in art, science, and nature, and he has authored or edited numerous books on painting, photography, and visual culture.
