James Carse

James P. Carse was an American academic and Professor Emeritus of history and literature of religion at New York University, where he directed the Religious Studies Program for thirty years. He was widely influential for his seminal work Finite and Infinite Games, which explored life as play and possibility and was translated into over a dozen languages. A creative thinker and winner of the University's Great Teacher Award, Carse wrote eight books exploring religion, philosophy, and the nature of human existence.
